We're partnering with a specialist hydrographic survey company seeking a motivated Hydrographic Surveyor to join their project team on a FIFO roster, supporting field campaigns across Australia's stunning coastline.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded graduate or early-career surveyor who wants hands-on field experience, professional mentoring, and exposure to a diverse range of coastal and offshore projects.
The Role
Working alongside experienced surveyors, you'll assist in the acquisition, processing, and delivery of high-quality hydrographic data across coastal infrastructure, dredging, and environmental projects. You'll gain valuable sea-time and technical development while contributing to safe, efficient operations.

We're partnering with a specialist hydrographic survey company seeking a motivated Hydrographic Surveyor to join their project team on a FIFO roster, supporting field campaigns across Australia's stunning coastline.

The Role
Working alongside experienced surveyors, you'll assist in the acquisition, processing, and delivery of high-quality hydrographic data across coastal infrastructure, dredging, and environmental projects. You'll gain valuable sea-time and technical development while contributing to safe, efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with multibeam, single-beam, and coastal topographic surveys.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain survey sensors, positioning systems, and vessel-mounted equipment.
- Support navigation setup, QA/QC checks, and data acquisition.
- Process and clean hydrographic data using HYPACK and related software.
- Generate base deliverables including XYZ datasets, gridded bathymetric surfaces, and charts.
- Conduct equipment calibrations, maintenance, and logistics for mobilisations.
- Uphold all HSE procedures, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Hydrography, Geomatics, Marine Science, or similar.
- 0-2 years' experience in hydrographic or marine surveying.
- Basic exposure to HYPACK or similar data processing software.
- Familiar with IHO S-44 standards and bathymetric quality principles.
- Practical knowledge of multibeam and positioning systems.
- Sea-time or small vessel experience is advantageous.
- Current driver's licence, marine safety, or coxswain certifications (desirable).
- Team player with strong attention to detail, initiative, and willingness to travel.
- FIFO roster with national project exposure.
- Excellent mentoring and career development pathways.
