Take the next step in your surveying career with an industry leader in marine and coastal surveying. We're partnering with a specialist hydrographic survey company seeking a motivated Hydrographic Surveyor to join their project team on a FIFO roster, supporting field campaigns across Australia's stunning coastline.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded graduate or early-career surveyor who wants hands-on field experience, professional mentoring, and exposure to a diverse range of coastal and offshore projects.

The Role
Working alongside experienced surveyors, you'll assist in the acquisition, processing, and delivery of high-quality hydrographic data across coastal infrastructure, dredging, and environmental projects. You'll gain valuable sea-time and technical development while contributing to safe, efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with multibeam, single-beam, and coastal topographic surveys.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain survey sensors, positioning systems, and vessel-mounted equipment.
  • Support navigation setup, QA/QC checks, and data acquisition.
  • Process and clean hydrographic data using HYPACK and related software.
  • Generate base deliverables including XYZ datasets, gridded bathymetric surfaces, and charts.
  • Conduct equipment calibrations, maintenance, and logistics for mobilisations.
  • Uphold all HSE procedures, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
About You
  • Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Hydrography, Geomatics, Marine Science, or similar.
  • 0-2 years' experience in hydrographic or marine surveying.
  • Basic exposure to HYPACK or similar data processing software.
  • Familiar with IHO S-44 standards and bathymetric quality principles.
  • Practical knowledge of multibeam and positioning systems.
  • Sea-time or small vessel experience is advantageous.
  • Current driver's licence, marine safety, or coxswain certifications (desirable).
  • Team player with strong attention to detail, initiative, and willingness to travel.
Why Apply
  • FIFO roster with national project exposure.
  • Excellent mentoring and career development pathways.
  • Competitive salary package + superannuation + uplifts + LAHA.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful coastal and marine projects across Australia.
If you're ready to build a rewarding career in hydrographic surveying and gain real field experience with a respected industry leader — we'd love to hear from you.
