Business Development Manager - Civil Construction

 About the Organisation
As a national and multi-disciplined infrastructure contractor going through significant growth, our client is a successful mid-tier contractor providing civil contracting services to the mining, resources and infrastructure sector. With project and tender values ranging up to $80m, they offer a variety of services to their respective markets which they are looking to build on by expanding their footprint in existing markets, but also pushing into previously untapped markets, both in WA and Eastern States.
About the Opportunity
With a loyal client base and enduring relationships to rely upon, our client have a 5 year growth plan which involves steady growth of their footprint from their current position of being a circa $100m turnover business, to be in excess of $300m with a focus on sustainable markets and healthy profits over revenue. We are seeking an established and relationship-driven Business Development professional with key contacts through the WA civil, mining, resources, energy and renewable energy sector. You will be dynamic, and have a passion and drive for sales and business growth
Key Accountabilities
  • You will be responsible for building relationships with key decision makers within target clients and sectors, securing invitations to tender and be involved in the tender process, including negotiations.
  • Develop Growth Strategy – Conduct extensive research to identify new markets within company capability, identify new prospects and develop strategies to win
  • Enhance & Develop Commercial Relationships – built on existing client relationships, develop relationships with new prospects and expanded relationships with partners required to deliver the offer.
  • Proposals Development – Work with operational and technical experts to develop initiatives to deliver value to clients and differentiate proposals. Contributed to the development of corporate marketing strategies
  • Submissions Process– Drive the preparation and presentation of prequalification proposals, expressions of interest, tenders and partnering proposals
About You
In order to be shortlisted for this opportunity, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
  • Minimum 15+ years civil construction experience working in a contractor environment
  • Will be able to demonstrate successful experience in a similar role
  • Proven knowledge of the WA civil construction sector with strong understanding of the infrastructure, mining and resources sector.
  • Industry knowledge within the Oil & Gas and CSG sector will be advantageous
  • Proactive, positive and genuine approach to sales
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team
